Years ago, on a calm, relaxing morning halfway up a narrow beach along Lake Erie, a tree stood at the water's edge. It was a pleasure to see, a welcome greeting, and a perfect place to pause and admire the view. In the summer, it provided shade as swallows flew from branch to branch, singing their songs. No matter the season, it was always there to greet you.

This piece captures a quiet morning with an old, endearing friend, making it a perfect focal point for a living room, bedroom, or office.

Artist's Process:
Captured with a Mamiya RZ67 medium format camera and Ilford SFX black & white film, this photograph achieves a vintage, timeless look. An infrared filter made use of, enhanced the film's special properties, highlighting the leaves in a glow. The long exposure turned an already calm lake, into an interesting texture. With the wide-angle lens, I had to carefully frame the shot to ensure the tree behind me remained out of view, a tight crop, keeping the focus entirely on the subject.
